Here I list a number of links to sites which may prove useful and/or
interesting to anyone involved in researching or modelling the Great Western Railway, and also sites of general railway modelling
interest. I make no apologies for being a dyed-in-the-wool and very partisan GWR fan, even though I was brought up in
the shadow of a Midland Railway viaduct in Bristol! Amongst railway companies, the GWR is unique in having a history
of continuous and uninterrupted technological development through its 111-year history. From the heart of the Industrial
Revolution through to the Atomic age, the GWR charts the development not only of technology, but also of economics, politics and
social history throughout that time.
